Choosing the Best Tools for the Job

When it comes to buying tools, there are several things to consider, not least of which is the return on investment. Is it going to be more practical and inexpensive to hire some tools rather than buy them – almost certainly if they are heavy, expensive tools that you will probably only use a few times. But many tools that you will use around the house are likely to be the type of tool it makes more sense to buy outright rather than rent.

A concrete mixer, for example is probably a tool that you should hire on an as-needed basis – unless you are planning a construction business. Whereas things such as a paint scraper will probably be something you should always have in your tool box.

And another example would be hand saws – a saw is a very personal tool, and far better to have a range of saws – each one specific for the job you want it for rather than renting one as needed. No tool kit is complete without at least one all purpose saw.
