Replacing A Kitchen Sink

Once the revamping of your kitchen is underway it is a better idea to replace the old sink with a new one in order to revive the serenity of your kitchen.

Though the task appears to be a heavy-duty plumbing project but can be made less daunting if proper course of action is adopted complemented by the required plumbing tools.

Before you start to remove the old sink it is always a good idea to develop a rough picture of the new sink as well. Keeping the space requirements in mind, measure the dimensions of the old sink in order to determine the size of the new sink. Also allow a local salesperson to recommend you a particular type of sink based on your need and taste. Most popular sinks are the stainless sinks due to their resistivity to corrosion and external agents such as air and water. Also they fit well in the mold of the counter top.

If however you decide to go for a porcelain sink then no additional clips are required as such sinks sit well on the counter top owing to their spread out edges. But they encounter certain problems as wiping off the garbage from the counter top into the sink becomes tough.

Kick off the actual task by turning off the water supply to the sink. Detach the drainage pipe from the sink with the assistance from wrenches and pliers. Make sure that the finishing of the screws is not altered.

Once the plumbing associations are dissociated from the sink, clear off the plaster and cement from the edges of the sink to loosen the structure. You may require the hammers and pliers to accomplish this part of the project.

Once everything is cleared off and the sink appears suspended, push the sink upwards to detach it completely from the fixture. Place it in a convenient location and make way for the new sink inserting it into the counter top. Attach the clips underside the sink to hold the new sink together.

Plaster the outlining of the sink well to fix it into the setup. Screw the threaded drain pipe to the sink and apply Teflon tape on it. If however any complication is encountered then a plumber has to be called to the rescue.
